Tankful for business
Tractors, loaders, the dairy and the farmhouse. Send one brief and local oil suppliers quote for the year, not just the next fill.
An estimate from today's household price for 1,000 litres across Ireland. Commercial volumes are usually quoted lower.
Typical farms use 4,000 to 30,000 litres a year. Oil suppliers sharpen their price when they can see the whole year, not one fill.
Reference: €1,628 per 1,000 litres of heating oil, VAT included. Green diesel and road diesel are priced differently.
Green diesel is marked gas oil: diesel carrying a reduced rate of Mineral Oil Tax, on condition it is only used for qualifying purposes. Revenue marks it chemically and dyes it green so misuse can be detected.
On a farm that means tractors, loaders and other agricultural machinery working off the public road, and heating. A jeep, pick-up or car driven on the road needs road diesel, even if it belongs to the farm. Revenue can detect the marker in a vehicle's tank and seize it.
Budget 2027 set out when the temporary tax relief on marked gas oil ends. If you have tank space, filling before each step can save on that load. Prices still move with the oil market, so a rise in tax does not guarantee a higher delivered price on the day.
Oil suppliers price a farm that buys 15,000 litres a year differently from one that rings for 1,000 litres when the tank is low. A brief showing the whole year, your tank sizes and when you need deliveries lets them quote a sharper rate per litre and plan deliveries around silage and harvest.
Building regulations guidance (TGD J) calls for a bunded tank for oil stores over 2,500 litres, and where a leak could reach a watercourse or drain. A lockable fill cap, a tank alarm and a sight of the tank from the house help against theft, which is common with green diesel.

Tankful sends it to up to 3 oil suppliers that deliver to you. Each quotes its own price and terms, directly to you.
Price per 1,000 litres, delivery terms and payment terms side by side. You choose, or stay where you are.
No. Marked gas oil is only for qualifying uses such as farm machinery working off the road and heating. A vehicle used on public roads must run on road diesel. Revenue tests vehicle tanks for the marker and can seize vehicles and fine the owner.
It carries a lower rate of Mineral Oil Tax because it is restricted to qualifying uses like agriculture and heating. Revenue adds a marker and green dye so misuse can be detected.
From 28 February 2027: Mineral Oil Tax on marked gas oil of 21.95c a litre, before VAT. Marked gas oil's non-carbon rate (5.4c a litre including VAT) is restored in full. From 1 May 2027: Mineral Oil Tax on marked gas oil of 23.98c a litre, before VAT. The deferred marked gas oil carbon increase takes effect.
It depends on the enterprise. A typical dairy or drystock farm might use 4,000 to 10,000 litres; tillage farms and farmers doing their own silage or contracting can use 20,000 litres or more. Enter your own figure in the estimate above.
Usually, yes. Most local oil suppliers that deliver marked gas oil also deliver kerosene. Tick both fuels in your brief and ask for separate invoice lines.
Nothing for your business. Oil suppliers that win an account through Tankful pay Tankful, never you, and paying never gets a supplier in front of a better local match.
No. Your brief goes to at most 3 oil suppliers that deliver to your area, and only they get your contact details.
