How prices work on Tankful

Tankful helps households compare recent publicly available heating-oil prices and supplier information. This page explains how comparison listings are shown, what unclaimed means, and how suppliers can claim or correct their profile.

For households

Tankful helps households compare recent publicly available heating-oil prices and supplier information. For unclaimed listings, prices may be gathered from supplier websites and are shown with the time they were last checked.

Tankful does not add a fee to unclaimed comparison prices, and customers are sent to the supplier to confirm price, availability, delivery terms, and payment.

A published comparison price is not a binding offer. Always confirm the final quote with the supplier before ordering.

Unclaimed comparison listings

Many suppliers appear on Tankful before they have claimed their listing. For these unclaimed listings, we show publicly visible price information where we can find it, along with source and last-checked labels on each row.

  • Source tells you where the price was gathered, usually the supplier website.
  • Price last seen tells you when Tankful last reviewed that price.
  • Status shows whether the listing is unclaimed, claimed, or a participating supplier.

If a supplier has not claimed their profile, Tankful does not add a buyer fee to the comparison price shown.

Claimed and participating suppliers

Suppliers can move beyond an unclaimed comparison listing by claiming their profile for free. A claimed supplier can correct coverage, contact details, and price information.

Suppliers can also add supplier-confirmed prices through a manual price update portal. Those prices can show a price confirmed by supplier badge, be marked stale or unavailable, and be paused from visibility when needed.

Some suppliers also choose to participate more actively. Participating suppliers may receive controlled Tankful order requests with litres, Eircode, phone, and tank notes, email or portal notification, and supplier confirmation of the final price before anything is accepted. Payment is not taken unless the supplier enables it.

Supplier relationship status is shown on directory cards, county price rows, and supplier profile pages so households can see how each listing is maintained.

For suppliers

Household comparison and alerts stay free to use. Monetisation, order requests, and payments stay optional until a supplier asks for them.
