Choose how you buy

Bulk delivery, fuel cards or a combination?

Start with how your operation refuels. A business with vehicles returning to one depot has different requirements from a team travelling between customer sites.
Questions to compare bulk fuel delivery, fuel cards and a mixed arrangement
Buying optionWhen to consider itWhat to establish first
Bulk deliveryA depot, construction site, farm or generator with suitable storage and a predictable need for fuel.Deliverable location, fuel and intended use, order size, tank capacity, access, delivery charges and payment terms.
Fuel cardsVehicles refuelling at forecourts along their working routes.Accepted stations and products, price formula, card and account fees, credit terms and driver controls.
A mixed arrangementDepot refuelling plus occasional travel, or different requirements across vehicles and sites. How many litres belong to each method. Compare their combined cost without counting the same fuel twice.

HVO is a fuel choice within these arrangements. For example, Inver describes HVO at selected forecourts and by commercial delivery. Check the particular location and payment arrangement you need.

Make quotes comparable

Give every provider the same starting point.

An attractive headline price is easier to assess when the volume, product, timing and extras are explicit. Keep your current provider in the comparison.

For bulk diesel and HVO delivery

  • Specify the delivery county and Eircode, intended fuel use, litres per delivery and likely annual demand.
  • Ask for the price validity, all delivery charges and whether the price and extras include VAT.
  • Describe the tank, available capacity, tanker access and receiving hours. Ask about minimum delivery size.
  • Confirm the payment date, any credit approval requirement and what happens if delivery needs to change.

Pricing structures vary. Inver lists daily, fixed-order, spot and formula pricing. Ask which basis applies to your own quote.

For a fuel card or fleet account

  • List vehicles, monthly litres, operating counties and the stations drivers already use.
  • Request the full fee schedule, including any card, account, transaction, replacement and optional service charges.
  • Ask how the fuel price changes, when you see the new price and whether particular stations add a surcharge.
  • Check the contract term, notice period, invoice frequency, payment terms and spending controls.

DCI describes both commercial pricing and discounts from pump prices. A discount and a quoted weekly price need a common comparison period.

Include Northern Ireland or other countries if needed. Each provider must confirm its card and the requested fuel are accepted at the sites you use.

Your reusable fuel request

How should Tankful reply?

You can also contact Tankful or call 083 448 6980. Fuel supply and any account agreement remain with the oil supplier or card provider.

You choose the next step.

Use the tools and prepare your brief free of charge. You can keep it, share it with a provider yourself, or choose to send an enquiry to Tankful for review. Supplier availability is not confirmed. Any introduction is agreed separately; your brief is not automatically distributed to oil suppliers or card providers.

Any supplier fee would be agreed separately. Suppliers cannot pay to change calculator results or buy a ranking.

Questions before you start

Can Tankful give me a live commercial diesel quote?
These pages help you compare figures you enter and prepare a clear buying brief. They do not show a live, bookable commercial fuel offer. If you send an enquiry, Tankful reviews it; an oil supplier would need to confirm availability, price and terms separately.
Can I use this to review my current supplier?
Yes. Use your existing invoice or renewal quote as the starting point. Apply the same fuel volume and tax basis to each offer, add all relevant fees, and ask your current provider to clarify any missing terms. You do not need to switch provider to use the tools.
Which counties and delivery sizes are available?
Tankful has not confirmed commercial delivery coverage or minimum order sizes for this service. Include your county, Eircode and litres per delivery in the brief. A supplier must confirm that it can serve the actual site, product and order size before you rely on a quote.
Who receives my details if I send a brief?
The optional enquiry goes to Tankful for review. It is not automatically sent to a panel of oil suppliers or card providers. Any introduction and the details to share would be agreed separately with you.
Do buyers pay, and can suppliers pay to appear first?
The buyer tools and brief are free. Any supplier fee would be agreed separately. There is no paid provider ranking on these pages; calculator results use the figures you enter. You can keep the brief and contact providers yourself.

Looking for household fuel? Compare heating oil. You can also browse the oil supplier directory; a directory listing does not confirm commercial participation or availability.

Sources and method

This guide organises the questions a business can use to assess its own fuel arrangements. Calculator figures come from your inputs, not a live supplier price feed. Availability and quoted commercial terms need confirmation with the provider.
