Which plant can run on green diesel?

Marked gas oil carries a reduced rate of tax and may only be used for qualifying purposes. Vehicles used on public roads, including vans, tippers and most trucks, must run on road diesel. Whether a particular machine qualifies depends on what it is and how it is used, so check Revenue's guidance or ask Revenue before you fill it with green diesel.

Mixed fleets should keep separate tanks and records for marked gas oil and road diesel. Revenue tests fuel tanks for the marker, and fines and seizures follow misuse.

HVO: lower emissions, same machines

HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil) is a renewable diesel made to the EN 15940 standard. Many engines can use it with no change, but check your manufacturer's approval first. Can contractors use green diesel?
