Marketplace and Merchant-of-Record Explanation

Why roles matter
Tankful may show supplier prices, route enquiries, provide supplier software, coordinate fulfilment, or enable payment. The legal role depends on the flow shown to you before you commit.
Supplier-direct enquiry
Tankful introduces you to a supplier or forwards your enquiry. The supplier confirms the final price, delivery, payment, cancellation, and refund terms. The supplier is normally the merchant and independent controller for the order they fulfil.
Tankful Fulfilled
Tankful may be the merchant of record, collect payment, issue or coordinate refunds, charge a displayed delivered-order or platform fee, and arrange fulfilment through a supplier or delivery partner. Checkout and confirmation messages should identify this role.
Supplier payment pilot or Stripe Connect
Tankful may facilitate payment for a supplier-confirmed order using Stripe Checkout or Stripe Connect. Depending on the configuration, funds may settle to the supplier after platform fees, or Tankful may collect and account for the payment. Stripe handles card data and may perform fraud, identity, dispute, and compliance checks.
What customers should check
- Who is named as the seller or merchant before payment.
- The final delivered price, fuel type, litres, delivery window, and any platform or no-access fee.
- Which party handles support, cancellation, refund, and complaints for that order.
